SPMCIL BAGS PRESTIGIOUS HR  AWARD
 

  • It gives us immense pleasure to share with all employees including Workers, Supervisors, Executives and Managers spread over nine Units and Corporate Office that SPMCIL has been bestowed with the glorious distinction of being conferred with Asia's Best Employer Brand Award for Innovative HR practices.  The Award was received on 23rd July, 2010 in Singapore by our esteemed Director (HR) on behalf of entire working class of SPMCIL from Mr. Bhaskar Chatterjee, Secretary to Govt. of India, Department of Public Enterprises who is also the Chairman of World HRD Congress.  

  • It is pertinent to mention that Asia's Best Employer Brand Awards are researched by Employer Branding Institute and Stars of the Industry Group.  The Award was originated in the last decade and predominantly active across Asia Pacific region and in Countries like Singapore, Malaysia and India.
  • Informatively, the Jury has taken cognizance of HR efforts in seamlessly carrying forward erstwhile Govt. employees to the roll of the Company consequent upon Govt. decision to corporatise Mints, Presses and Paper Mill.  It was a herculean task to Reach to the Employees across the Nine Units, Run the helpdesk, Negotiate with the employee representatives in the Core committee tripartite forum with the help of Govt. Authorities and also Mobilise the trust and confidence of Govt. employees to en-masse join in the Company and the mission was accomplished within a record time.
  • Dr. Manoranjan Dash, Director (HR) of the Company in the process has also been conferred with the honour of being one of the "Most powerful HR professionals in India" in the same event and received the accolade from Mr. Bhaskar Chatterjee in Singapore on 23rd July, 2010.
  • Since inception of the company in the year 2006 receiving an Award in the HR domain that too in a global event is first of its kind and has paved the way for the Company to achieve recognition not only in domestic arena but also in the global forum.  The success is attributed to all Workers, Supervpisors, Managers of SPMCIL who immensely contributed towards the beginning of a new era in the annals of the history of Minting, Security and Currency Printing in India through a corporatized entity like SPMCIL.   Photograph

Technical Training Programme  conducted by Government Institute of Printing Technology (GIPT), Secunderabad                                                                                                                                                                         Security Printing Press Hyderabad conducted first Technical Training Programme on Printing Technology for Executives and Supervisors of SPP, India Security Press, Bank Note Press, and Currency Note Press for the period from 12th May 2010 to 15th May 2010. The Technical Training Programme was organized through Government Institute of Printing Technology (GIPT), Secunderabad. The eminent faculties enriched the knowledge of the participants particularly on the following topics:

I) Printing Quality and Precision Settings ii) Factors Affecting relationship between Paper and Ink iii) Preventive Maintenance and Schedules iv) Quality Control Management System v) Package Concept & Design vi) Latest Trends in Printing Technology.

The training programme was highly informative, useful and encouraging to the participants. The participants applauded the content of the training programme and desired to have repetitions of such programmes for the all the sister units of SPMCIL. SPP also arranged field visit to the factory of news daily “The Hindu” and reputed printers “Pragati Art Printers”. On the last day of the programme, assessment of the participants was conducted by GIPT and group discussion made. All the participants were awarded with certificates and a memento on the occasion. Workshop on Delivering Better Customer Services In Backdrop Of Customer Satisfaction Survey 2009-10     Management Development Institute (MDI) Gurgaon has organized a workshop for SPMCIL employees at India Security Press Nashik on 11.06.2010. The theme of the workshop was “delivering better customer services in backdrop of customer satisfaction survey 2009-10”.The workshop was attended by 28 participants from the nine SPMCIL units and the Programme Coordinator was Prof. N P Singh, from MDI Gurgaon.

The workshop was inaugurated by Chief Guest Shri Ashwini Kumar, Director (Technical) SPMCIL. In his inaugural address Director (Technical) conveyed the message of Sh. M S Rana CMD SPMCIL to all delegates and appealed them to deliver their best in customer services. He emphasized on the importance of customer as an axis of contemporary economic activity and urged all participants to put best efforts in understanding & satisfying the needs of the customers. He further urged that all participants must take & disseminate the message of the workshop to their fellow employees and contribute in making SPMCIL a customer responsive organization. In his keynote address Shri S. N. Lahiri General Manager India Security Press Nasik mentioned that the technology, quality & prices of products can be sooner or later matched by other market players but it is only the culture of excellent customer services that leaves a lasting impression has a winning edge. He wished that continuous improvement in the customer satisfaction index shall be our motto & further informed all participants that in realizing this objective, ISP will shortly organize a customer meet for Non Judicial Stamp Paper related functionaries.

Prof. NP Singh during his day long marathon interactive sessions discussed the salient features of customer satisfaction survey report 2009-10, importance of customer oriented thinking, factors affecting customer satisfaction and how to achieve the excellence in delivery of customer services. In valedictory session, Director (Technical) and GM, ISP have taken feedbacks on the learnings acquired during the programme and the workshop was concluded with the vote of thanks to Chief Guest, Key Note Speaker, Programme coordinator and all participants.View Photograph

Finance Secretary Chairs the First Meeting of Board of Trustees of SPMCIL Employees Pension Fund Trust     The first meeting of Board of Trustees of SPMCIL Employees Pension Fund Trust was held on Tuesday, 1st June 2010 in North Block, New Delhi. The meeting was chaired by Shri Ashok Chawla, Finance Secretary, Government of India. The trust has been created by execution and registration of trust deed dated 31.03.2010 for disbursement of pension and other retirement benefits to the employees who have been absorbed in SPMCIL and have opted pension for the combined service rendered by them in Government and Corporation in terms of Rule 37-A of CCS (Pension) Rules, 1972. The trust will receive pensionary contributions to the pension fund for the period of service to be rendered by the members under SPMCIL at the rates determined by Central Government and sanction & disburse the pensionary benefits to the members from that pension fund. There are seven trustees in the trust namely Shri Ashok Chawla, Finance Secretary, Smt. Madhulika P. Sukul, JS (Personnel), Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance, Shri S.K. SPMCIL INKS MOU WITH GOVERNMENT AIMING 10% BUSINESS GROWTH IN FISCAL 2010-11

Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Limited (SPMCIL), a Miniratna Category-I CPSE, wholly owned Schedule ‘A’ Company of Government of India, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), Ministry of Finance, setting an ambitious business target of Rs. 2750 crore for the fiscal 2010-11 aiming increase of about 10% over 2009-10 targets. This is over and above already high base established by SPMCIL by achieving consistently significant growth in its turnover for last three years since 2007-08. The MOU was signed between Finance Secretary, Shri Ashok Chawla and Chairman and Managing Director of SPMCIL, Shri M.S. Rana. Ms. L.M. Vas, Additional Secretary, DEA, Shri Govind Mohan, Joint Secretary, DEA, Shri Ashwini Kumar, Director (Technical), Shri Madan Mohan, Director (Finance), Dr. Manoranjan Dash, Director (HR), Shri Ajay Nath, CVO and Shri Sachin Agarwal, Asstt. Company Secretary of SPMCIL were also present.

The MOU has been signed based on the targets and the parameters negotiated by a Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) appointed Task Force (TF). The MOU is based on the premise of a growth charter in a globally competitive environment and forward looking approach of SPMCIL and incorporates new parameters and weightages for evaluation of performance with focus on profitability, new schemes, market & product diversification as well as optimisation of its various resources..View Photograph

SPMCIL'S  FOUNDATION  DAY  CELEBRATIONS
The Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Limited was made functional w.e.f. 10th Feb, 2006 with its Registered and Corporate Office at 16th Floor, Jawahar Vyapar Bhawan, Janpath, New Delhi-110001. Within a short span of three years, SPMCIL has excelled from a ‘Schedule ‘A’ Company’ status to ‘Miniratna Category-I CPSE’ of the Government of India. In order to share this honour befitting to the aspiration of SPMCIL employees, Inter-Unit Badminton Tournament and inter-Unit Football Tournament were held at SPM, Hoshangabad and BNP, Dewas in the last week of Jan, 2010 and the first week of Feb, 2010 respectively.
SPMCIL Anniversary Day was celebrated at BNP’s Factory premises on the 10th Feb, 2010 morning by hoisting SPMCIL Flag by Shri M.S. Rana, CMD, SPMCIL in the presence of three Functional Directors & CVO of SPMCIL, all the General Managers/Head of Department of respective 9 Units under SPMCIL as well as Works Committee Members, Trade Union Representatives, Officers, Staff and workmen of BNP, Dewas.
Later in the afternoon of 10th Feb,2010, Closing Ceremony of the Football Tournament was held on 10th Feb, 2010 at the Football Ground of Bank Note Press, Dewas.The occasion was also marked with distribution of prizes, certificates to deserving and outstanding Officers, employees of SPMCIL Units in recognition of the meritorious services and best performance amongst all the 9 Units under SPMCIL. Prizes were distributed to the winners of SPMCIL Rajbhasha Puraskar and to the winners of the Competition for Nigam Geet.All the employees of SPMCIL and its 9 Units were also distributed wall clock and sweets to commemorate the occasion.

SPMCIL WON EXPORT ORDER
The Security Printing & Minting Corporation of India Limited (SPMCIL), with its headquarters at Jawahar Vyapar Bhawan, New Delhi is a wholly owned Miniratna Category-I status Public Sector Undertaking under Ministry of Finance. It has four mints / two currency presses / two security presses and one security paper mill under its charge. SPMCIL is producing bank notes, coins, medals, medallions, passports, postal stationery, stamp paper and other security products. The Corporation was established on 13th January, 2006.
Apart from meeting the national requirement of the currency and coinage, SPMCIL has started pro-actively looking for export business in the currency and coinage and it has won global tender from Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) for printing & supply of 230 million pieces of Rs. 10/- denomination NRB banknotes at a contract price of Euro 3.89 million. Recently, in September 2009, SPMCIL got order of printing and supply of 120 million pieces of Rs.100/- NRB banknotes at a contract price of about Euro 1.94 million. Last year, it had printed 50 million pieces of Rs.10/- NRB banknotes for Nepal. In accordance with corpoatisation objectives, SPMCIL is diversifying into other security products, medals and medallions.

SPMCIL & NIFM Collaborate for training of Executives
Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India (SPMCIL) and National Institute of Financial Management (NIFM) two important Organizations under the Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India collaborated in conducting an Executive development programme for the erstwhile Govt. Officers Officers of SPMCIL come to the roll of the Company representing the Mints, Presses & Paper Mill across the Country during the period from 18th Jan’10.to 23rd Jan’10 in the serene premises of NIFM in Faridabad.
The Chairman & Managing Director of SPMCIL Mr. M. S. Rana in his inaugural address emphasized on the training and retraining of human resource at this crucial junction of transition in the Company to enhance the production and productivity.  Dr. Dash, Director (HR) of the Company mentioned about his vision of making SPMCIL as a knowledge organization.. The Director of NIFM Mr.Gupta also graced the Occasion.
The Week long training programme was designed to acquaint the Officer of the Company to expose them to multifarious skill and responsibility which includes Operation, Technical knowhow, Manufacturing process, Finance & Accounts, Human Resource, Sales & Marketing, IT and thus thrive for Excellence at the work place. Resource Persons from various professional areas including Academicians, Top officials of the Govt. and Managers from Industry addressed, interacted and shared their experience with the participants in the learning halls of NIFM.The training programme generated immense value for the organization.

SPMCIL Signs MoU with ASI for printing of Admission Tickets
India Security Press (ISP), Nashik Road [A unit of Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Limited (SPMCIL)] has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) for printing & supply of Admission Tickets for its various monuments across the country. The proposed Admission tickets will be printed by ISP, Nashik incorporating high security features in design, paper and inks, which are very difficult to counterfeit. This collaborative initiative between both organizations would enable secured admission
tickets in hands of visitors visiting various ticketed monuments of ASI across the country.

SPMCIL Unit awarded for Achievement in Energy Conservation

ndia Government Mint, Mumbai, Has been selected for the "Certificate of Merit" in the General Category Sector for the National Energy Conservation Awards-2009 being coordinated by Bureau of Energy Efficiency of the Ministry of Power. These Awards are given to selected Industrial units who have made systematic and serious attempts for efficient utilization and conservation of energy. Award was given on 14th Dec 2009 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi by Hon'ble Union Minister of Power which was received by Shri D.V. Gondnale, General Manager.

SPMCIL & NIFM Collaborate for training of Human Resource

Rana in his inaugural address emphasized on the importance of training, retraining and skill development of human resource in SPMCIL which shall definitely pave the way to enhance the overall performance. Dr. Dash, Director (HR) of the Company mentioned about his vision of SPMCIL emerging as a learning Organisation where Talent and knowledge shall reign supreme in generation tangible and intangible values. The Director of NIFM Mr.Gupta also graced the Occasion.
The Week long training programme was designed to acquaint junior Executives of the Company predominantly the Freshers and expose them to multifarious skill and responsibility which includes Operation, Technical knowhow, Manufacturing process, Finance & Accounts, Human Resource, Sales & Marketing, IT and thus thrive for Excellence at the work place. Resource Persons from various professional areas including Academicians, Top officials of the Govt. and Managers from Industry addressed, interacted and shared their experience with the participants in the learning halls of NIFM.
While formally concluding and distributing the certificates to the participant, Director of the Institute Mr.Gupta mentioned that the programme has set the pace for synergy between two Organisations coming under Ministry of Finance and shall be looking forward to such initiatives in by all concerned in future. The programme was ably coordinated by Dr.Saran, Professor of NIFM.

India Government Mint Kolkata got ISO 9001:2008
India Government Mint Kolkata was established in 1952 at Kolkata. Originally different minting facilities were created in and around Kolkatta in the 18th Century. One of the mints was  modernised in the year 1952 and it was known as Alipore Mint. Later-on Government of India, renamed it as India Government Mint, Kolkatta.

SPMCIL signed an MoU with Handicrafts & Handlooms Exports Corporation (HHEC) on 16.10.2009 for manufacturing /marketing of gold medallions.
SPMCIL, wholly owned Miniratna Category-I status Public Sector Undertaking under the ministry of Finance has  signed an MoU with Handicrafts & Handlooms Exports Corporation (HHEC) for manufacturing /marketing of gold medallions. India Government Mints are known for their trust in bullion activities since decades.  Signing of MoU shall ensure availability of quality gold medallions to public through HHEC.  The expertise of HHEC in sourcing gold and marketing at their outlets shall bring synergy in operation.  This is in accordance with Corporatisation Objectives of diversification.

SPP Hyderabad won the second prize for implementation of Official Language.
SPP Hyderabad was selected for second prize in the PSU category for implementation of official language in the south and south-western region. DGM & HoD received the shield from the Hon'ble Minister for Home  Shri Ajay Makan in a function organized at Jawahar Lala Nehru Institute of Post-Graduate Education & Medical Research (JIPMAR), Pondicherry on 09.10.2009. Dr Pradeep Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Home was also present in the function.

IGM Kolkata gets order for making silver medals for Coal India Limited for Rs 41.67 Cr.
IGM Kolkata bags order from Coal India Limited, Kolkata for supply of 4.16 Lakh Silver medals valued at 41.67 Crores. The medals are to be released on the occasion of "The Company attaining NAVRATNA company status". Each medal made with 920 fineness silver will be mounted on acrylic stand and packed in suitable paper box. The order has stringent delivery clause linked with Liquidated Damages.

BNP Dewas Bagged National Safety Award                             

BNP an ISO:9001 and ISO: 14001 Certified Unit of SPMCIL bagged National Safety Award for outstanding performance in Industrial safety for the year 2007 on Lowest Average Frequency rate of Accident. The award was presented by the Honorable Union Minister of Labour & Employment, Shri Mallikarjun Kharge to Sh M.C.Bylappa, DGM & HoD  BNP Dewas on 17.09.2009, on this occasion Mr P.S. Uchhana, Sr Safety Officer and Mr K.L. Gorya, Assistant Engineer were also present.  It is worth mentioning here that BNP Dewas is getting the National Safety Awards continuously  since 1996. Shri M.S. Rana, CMD SPMCIL has congratulated Shri M.C.Bylappa, DGM & HoD BNP Dewas and his team for the outstanding achievement.

SPP,Hyderabad gets order for printing of Warehouse Forms with Security Features.

Security Printing Press, Hyderabad bags first-ever order for printing of warehouse forms from Haryana Warehouse Corporation, Panchkula.  The SPP, Hyderabad has developed security features in their forms by giving provisions of Warehouse Logo in invisible ink including microtexts.  The Unit is all set to supply 2500 such books to the Haryana Warehouse Corporation, Panchkula.

ISP at Nashik is fully equipped with state of art technology for designing and manufacturing a variety of Passports, Visa and other traveling documents. ISP has got capacity of manufacturing more than 8 million Passports and Visa stickers in a year. Passport has got unmatched security features like UV feature, heat activated UV fill with micro feature, water mark, multicolor UV thread etc. VISA sticker is manufactured by using multicolor printing, UV feature, OEM feature etc.

Hindi Week/fortnight 2009
To implement the Official Language Policy of Government of India a Hindi week/fortnight is celebrated to propagate the use of Hindi by the official. Hindi week/fortnight 2009 from 1-15 September’2009 was celebrated at SPMCIL Corporate office. Many workshops and competitions were held during the fortnight and the Company officials were encouraged to participate in the various activities during the Hindi fortnight. Large number of officials of corporate office participated in the competitions. The official who won the prizes were facilitated by the CMD ceremoniously. View photos
